A Million Dollars or A Penny

A MILLION DOLLARS OR A PENNY

ACT 1

1.  Which would you rather have, a million dollars today or a penny doubled every day for 30 days?
2.  Write down your guess.

ACT 2

3.  What information would be useful to figure this out?
4.  Write down some questions you have in your head right now.

ACT 3

3 Act Math

The three act lesson structure, pioneered by Dan Meyer, is designed to get your students excited and invested in a math task or problem.  It uses a Storytelling framework with 3 acts to engage students in the math task.

In Act 1, you start with a "hook" that introduces an intriguing problem or conflict.  In Act 2, students consider how to overcome obstacles, researching resources and tools, to solve the problem.  In Act 3, the problem or conflict is resolved!

Here are some 3 Act Math Tasks to explore:

Do a virtual tour with Tour Builder with Google Maps

Tour Builder allows you to create a virtual tour of anywhere on earth! You can go to historical locations, points of interest, even places from literature. Create tours to help reinforce projects and embed them into your blogs, or presentations.

Creating and embedding a Youtube playlist.

Creating and embedding a Google form

Creating and embedding Google Maps

Zion National Park

Digital Citizenship

Here is an idea of how to use Blogger for Digital Citizenship Lessons

You can link your Common Sense Media Lessons for students to access. For a copy of Digital Citizenship Activities Click Here

Add a youtube playlist

Note: If using the district's network, the youtube playlist will not work. The work around is to download these videos to your drive and use the embed code from your drive.

Use EDpuzzle or Zaption to create an interactive video and embed it

Here is an EDpuzzle video - Note: for EDpuzzle activities you need to have a Google Classroom and assign your video to your class.

Here's an example using Zaption
